M.Sc Nursing – Medical Surgical Nursing

Medical surgical Nursing is a speciality area concerned with the care of Adult patients in a broad range of settings. This speciality aims to prepare the students to become competent to practice Nursing in various Medical and Surgical clinical areas. The department of MSN prepares each students as a global professional Nurses trained to highest levels of competence committed to excellence in delivering compassionate care in wide range of Clinical areas, Nursing education, Research,Practice and services. The Department has got well equipped Medical surgical Nursing lab where students get hands on experience for various procedures. It has an excellent infrastructure to aid in teaching and research activities. It is equipped with adequate number of Mannequins & stimulators to amalgamate class room teaching with skill learning successful. The staff members have exceptional qualifications and are committed to provide their students with comphrehensive information through Clinical supervision, In service education, Conduction of awareness programme, health screening ,clinical administration and research activities.

M.Sc Nursing – Child Health Nursing

Welcome to the department of Child health nursing at Vinayaka Mission’s College of Nursing, Karaikal. Is a specialized field of nursing focused on the healthcare of infants, children, and adolescents, from conception to young adulthood. It involves providing holistic, family-centered care for children's physical, emotional, and social needs through a combination of theoretical knowledge and clinical training in settings like hospitals, schools, and community health programs. The department is well – equipped with the entire necessary infrastructure to facilitate comprehensive learning in the field of Child health nursing for both undergraduate and postgraduate students. The department's functions include providing skilled nursing care in settings like pediatric wards and intensive care units, educating families, and contributing to the education, management, and research of child health. The department is having qualified, experienced, and committed faculty.

M.Sc Nursing – Obstetrics & Gynecological Nursing

Welcome to the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecological Nursing at Vinayaka Mission’s College of Nursing, Karaikal. The department is well-equipped with the entire necessary infrastructure to facilitate comprehensive learning in the field of Obstetrics and Gynecological Nursing for both undergraduate and postgraduate students. The Department of OBG is committed to providing quality education, clinical training, and research opportunities in women’s health. Students receive thorough training in antenatal, intranatal, and postnatal care, family welfare services, and the management of gynecological conditions through both theoretical and practical exposure. Our Department of OBG has a Departmental library with textbooks and journals, offering comprehensive resources for study and reference. Departmental activities include research projects, organizing events such as Safe motherhood day, International Midwives Day, and conducting community outreach programs etc. The faculty members are highly qualified and dedicated to mentoring students, encouraging research, and promoting excellence in women’s healthcare and Nursing practice.

M.Sc Nursing – Mental Health Nursing

Welcome to the Department of Mental Health Nursing, VMCON, Karaikal. The department is dedicated to promoting mental health and providing quality education, clinical training, and research in the field of psychiatric and mental health nursing. The department focusing on preparing competent and compassionate nursing students to deliver holistic care to individuals with mental health problems across the lifespan. It offers theoretical and practical learning experiences related to various psychiatric disorders, therapeutic communication, counseling techniques, and psychosocial rehabilitation. The department conducts mental health awareness programs, workshops, Seminars, conference, faculty development programs and community outreach activities to reduce stigma and enhance public understanding of mental health. The faculty members are well qualified and experienced in psychiatric nursing and mental health education. They guide students in evidence-based practice, research projects, and mental health promotion activities and continuing education programs to strengthen their professional development.

M.Sc Nursing – Community Health Nursing

The Community Health Nursing provides an interpretative bridge between the health sectors and community services. The Department functions with the objective of “Reach the unreached” and believes that every individual, family and the community gets need based holistic care. The department prepares students to undertake the socially conscious task of providing health care to both rural and urban communities. The department is supported with adequate well qualified experienced nursing faculty along with health professionals from own & government health centres, NGOs and proactive community leaders. Students are taught to recognize the importance of health, prevention of disease, promotion of positive health, caring of sick and providing rehabilitation services to the needy. Department aims to focus on attitude building, leadership and personality development of nursing students to enable them to provide quality health care services in the community. The lab is well-equipped with family folders, Community bags, health education materials, models and puppets required for providing the comprehensive services to the community. On regular basis in collaboration with other departments conducts free medical camps in the schools and community for screening of communicable and non-communicable diseases. The outreach programmes and social engagement programmes are well appreciated and acknowledged in the community by various stakeholders.
